Blessed for a Blessing

By Tyler Collins, February 16, 2024

1 May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, Selah 2 that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations. 3 Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you (Psalm 67:1-3).

The prayer of the Psalmist here is that God would bless us so that through this blessing we would make His way and saving power known among all nations. God desires all the peoples of the earth to praise Him. God does not bless us just so that we can live for ourselves and glorify ourselves, but He blesses us for His glory and for the good of His kingdom.

The blessing described in this Scripture is not just spiritual; it includes material and financial blessings. I believe God financially blesses His followers living in the United States so we can bless the rest of the world.  Like the Psalmist, we should desire the face of God to shine on the world’s nations.

The book of Romans tells us that the nations cannot hear without someone telling them. What if God has blessed you financially so that you can play a role in spreading the good news of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth? This is the greatest investment opportunity. I would encourage you to ask the Lord the question: “Why have you blessed me?”
