Corporate Stewardship

By Tyler Collins, February 23, 2024

Many of the previous posts have been regarding the individual Christian reflecting on God’s heart for financial stewardship and an exhortation to reflect on how we are (or are not) aligning our hearts with God’s heart. In this post, I want to tackle an angle of corporate stewardship, particularly with the majority culture church in North America.

As mentioned in previous posts, the United States is the wealthiest country in the history of the world. The Lord has not given wealth for building our personal kingdoms but for His kingdom. He has given us financial abundance to bless and serve others.

Over the past few decades, our part of the world has seen increased ethnic diversity. People from all over the world, both Christian and non-Christian, are moving to North America. A recently published statistic shows that 86% of immigrants who have moved to North America are Christian or have come to know Christ while in North America. God is working to revitalize the North American church and may use these recent arrivals to accomplish His plan! Many of these believers, not originally from North America, have financial needs for a place to worship, evangelism efforts, discipleship programs, etc.  These are often people that established churches are not able to reach.

What does it look like for an established church to partner with the immigrant church? The concept of mutuality means that the immigrant church has the same opportunities as established churches. The established church in North America has an incredible opportunity to use its resources to bless the Church at large and extend unity. If you are part of an established faith community reading this today, ask yourself how you can bless the immigrant Christian and participate in furthering the kingdom of God.
