Stewarding the Authority of Jesus

By Tyler Collins, March 29, 2024

And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, 2 and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal (Luke 9:1-2).

And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction (Matthew 10:1).

Jesus tells us in the Great Commission that He has all authority on heaven and earth. He then invited His disciples into that authority. He told his disciples they could use His authority to cast out demons, heal the sick, and proclaim the kingdom of God.

When you observe the ministry of Jesus, these are the works that accompanied Him. As we enter our workspaces, neighborhoods, schools, etc, we can walk in the authority Jesus gives us. We do not have power or authority in ourselves, but it is offered to us through Jesus, His death, and resurrection. When we follow Christ, we have this power and authority available to us. Jesus’ disciple John noted that His followers would even do greater works through the Holy Spirit (John 14:12).  Every time Jesus healed someone or cast out a demon as recorded in the Scriptures, it resulted in the individual falling at the feet of Jesus. All glory goes to God.

I encourage you today to ask God how He wants you to steward the authority that Jesus offers us. He will provide people in your path this week who need an encounter Jesus’ love. You are the conduit through which that encounter will happen.
