Your work matters to God. You worship God when you work like you are working for the Lord. You not only worship when you’re in a church service, singing a song, or praying, but you also worship God by honoring Him through the good work you do. This is important because it answers the big question of why you are here. It answers the question of your purpose.
Without purpose, you have no vision.
Without purpose, you have no direction.
Without purpose, you have no focus.
Without purpose, you have no expertise.
Without purpose, you are inadequate.
As a Christ-follower, you are here to be an ambassador, which is your why. So, your larger purpose is to know God, to make him known, and to represent him. With purpose, you know where your life is headed. You see the direction of your life. Knowing your purpose helps you to stay focused and get through life’s tough times, storms, and difficulties.
Build your life around your purpose. Do the work and develop a life purpose statement, identify your giftings, document your passions, and recognize areas where you have seen fruitfulness in your life.
“Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:2).
When you know your purpose, you have that joy.
