“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time” (1 Timothy 2:1–6).
When we pray for our leaders, we please God, according to Paul in his letter to Timothy.
As we find ourselves in an election year, the relevance of this verse becomes even more pronounced. It’s a timely opportunity for us to put Paul’s teaching into practice and be active doers of the Word.
It’s important to remember that God is indeed pleased when we lift up those in authority in our prayers. This act of intercession is not only pleasing to God but also holds significant power in shaping our lives and communities. God has called all of us to pray so that we can live quiet and peaceable lives giving the Gospel a free course. The Gospel can be unhindered, and then we can use that liberty and freedom to proclaim Jesus Christ and to make him known. We must be intentional about integrating our faith with our work. Let’s grow together in the marketplace as his s His ambassadors.
