Set Our Spiritual Thermostat

Thermostats are designed to spring into action when certain conditions are met. The temperature rises to a certain level, which triggers air conditioning, or, the temperature falls to a point that triggers heat. The thermostat is a sensor that keeps the room at a consistent temperature.

In a similar way, Christ-followers have rising temperatures of emotions that may hit us throughout the day. The quicker we can regulate those rising temperatures, the less likely emotions will get the better of us and lead us to do or say something we should not.

God acts as a sensor, He watches over us, even while we sleep, and keeps us from slipping. David wrote, “I will raise my eyes to the mountains; From where will my help come? My help [comes] from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to slip; He who watches over you will not slumber” (Psalm 121:1-3 NASB20).

As David reminds us, when we face mountains of challenges, we can turn to God, who made the earth and everything in it. He can overcome any of the challenges we face.
